Chapter 7: Other cities close by.

One day, while exploring around Hammerdale, I found out that there were more cities close by, and some even gave special missions that could be done in a few moments.

flying platform The closest city is Hildershall where I took the responsibility of several tasks. I had to kill blue spiders and also ghost spiders just west of the city gate. This is build in front of a very large cave where a fiery monster resides. Needless to say, this fire elemental, is a hot monster and the one time I tried to test my blade against him it did not go all too well. He runs fast and shoots a lot of fireballs that would reduce to ashes even the strongest warrior. Apart from the elemental, not many people live inside the city. It is more like a stop for many travellers where they could refresh and re-equip before continuing their journey. More to the west of Hildershall there are the strangest flight of steps I have ever seen. There is like a round platform which connects to a floating island many meters above the ground. Gravity must play strange tricks on this platform as it moves to and fro all the time. Riding this platform is free of charge, but you must make sure you do not suffer from vertigo before riding it. On this floating island live a group of monsters similar to the one in the cave but of different magic. These specialise in lightning and getting yourself zapped is inevitable up there. I did not want such troubles so I made my way back down on the platform to continue in my travels.

Just outside of the city of Chillbourne you can find Malauts that mainly use magic against you. They are not that hard to defeat one on one, but when they team up you will soon get in trouble. Their main strength is that they will shoot magic from far away and cover is not so common around. Then when you realise you are about to die you would run back and this is the biggest mistake. It turns out that my back is weaker compared to my chest so you always need to face your enemies. By experience I discovered that the best tactic to retreat is to step back carefully and parry the attacks. You can parry with every weapon but it is best done with a shield and a 1 hand sword.

malaut beguilers I helped the city officers as much as I could until I met a very peculiar guy who lived in Chilbourne. This guy was red with rage, and every time he was around he was trying to kill me. No matter how much I tried to tell him that I am friendly and wanted no violence, he would run after me with bad intentions in mind. He would kill me everywhere and the town towers never defended me. I leant to keep away from him as he was definitely a very sad person, killing innocent people just for the fun of it. He always took all my stuff but I do not think he ever wore them. Maybe he was too proud to wear items with my own name on it. Yeah my name was on every item I made because by this time I was studying to become a master craftsman!
